This session will help participants…

  1. describe the current landscape of behavioral assessment and programming as implied in the NASP Practice Model (i.e., Domain 1, Data-Based Decision Making);
  2. analyze challenging behaviors of emergent bilingual youth with and without disabilities from a cultural and linguistically responsive lens as reflected in the NASP Practice Model (i.e., Domain 4, Mental and Behavioral Health Services); and
  3. apply culturally and linguistically responsive adaptations to the functional behavior assessment (FBA) and positive behavior support plan (PBSP) development processes as substantiated by the NASP Practice Model (i.e., Domain 8, Equitable Practices for Diverse Populations).

Description

Equipping educators with nondiscriminatory functional behavior assessment practices addresses the complex needs of an ever-evolving student body. Adopt culturally and linguistically responsive strategies to equitably support diverse student challenging behaviors.
