This session will help participants…

  1. explain the importance and increase teachers' understanding of special education law in the school setting;
  2. describe methods to assess teacher knowledge of special education law using an action research model; and
  3. engage in discussion related to school-based intervention to assist teachers in navigating complex legal policy and understanding the rights of the students.

Description

Elementary teachers’ understanding and knowledge of special education law were assessed to provide school psychologists and special education staff direction needed to effectively support student and teacher success.
