Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. explore how behavioral parent training programs are used as an active partnership between schools and families in their professional practice;
  2. understand the basic principles of all parent programs and the aims of more specialized programs for certain populations; and
  3. determine effective strategies to meet the needs of a growing number of children with externalizing behaviors using an ecological approach.

Description

Currently, there are effective behavioral parent training (BPT) programs available to help caregivers with challenging behaviors. However, school psychologists could use BPTs to reach unique populations and enhance schoolfamily partnerships.
