Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn about a research study that extends the word boxes intervention to support the development of advanced decoding skills (i.e., reading multisyllable words);
  2. receive a basic training on a Tier 2 and 3 reading intervention for advanced decoding skills for multisyllable words and receive handouts of lessons to bring to their schools;
  3. understand elements of graphosyllabic analysis important to successfully decoding multisyllable words; and
  4. learn how to implement the word boxes intervention which targets decoding skills using visual boundaries.

Description

Learn about an intervention used to support students with advanced decoding skills using the word boxes intervention for syllabication instruction. Study results will be presented. Participants will receive lesson handouts.
