  1. explore the likelihood that many referrals are related to behavioral, cognitive, and emotional regulation concerns that are often better conceptualized as related to anxiety or executive dysfunction;
  2. explore the differential diagnosis and comorbidity challenges surrounding high functioning autism spectrum disorder referrals;
  3. explore the typical diagnoses that are made whether or not ASD is diagnosed; and
  4. reflect on considerations for designing comprehensive evaluations for high functioning ASD referrals.
