Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. develop in their knowledge and skills that inform school psychology practice related to planning and supporting children and families who have experienced trauma—this will include information for educators as part of school-based, wraparound services;
  2. apply principles of effective trauma informed practices in rural settings; and
  3. describe and analyze the implications of this study for student-level (direct), systems-level (indirect), and foundational areas of trauma-informed service delivery in their professional practice.

Description

Students living in rural communities have less access to trauma-informed supports. This literature reviews how school-based professionals can support minoritized, trauma-affected students through a critical social justice lens.
