Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. describe how the transition to high school is a critical period for academic success for students with ADHD;
  2. explain the adaptive/maladaptive role of academic interest in students with ADHD; and
  3. analyze the unique relationship between different types of social support, academic interest, and achievement in students with ADHD.

Description

We longitudinally examined the role of multisystemic support on academic interest and achievement in high schoolers with ADHD. Distinctive motivational patterns emerged, highlighting the unique characteristics of students with ADHD.
