Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn skills for helping students understand how their disability impacts their learning and how to be assertive about their educational needs;
  2. gain access and understanding of resources for student self-advocacy to share with students, parents, and teachers; and
  3. identify ways to incorporate supporting self-advocacy skill development in students into the school psychologists' role.

Description

Self-advocacy is a crucial skill for students with disabilities. Participants will gain knowledge and resources for supporting students developing self-advocacy skills and identify ways to incorporate this into their role.
