Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. explore the impact of COVID-19 on the gifted/talented eligible students’ growth in cognitive ability and academic achievement;
  2. understand the difference in the growth patterns between GT-eligible and non-GT-eligible students across cognitive ability and academic achievement; and
  3. improve the strategies used in the recovery efforts for students’ performance and more equitable GT identification referrals which may have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Description

This study analyzed historical cognitive ability data in addition to academic achievement from two school districts to assess the impact of the COVID-19 on gifted eligible students and potential misidentification.
