Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. describe the experiences of TGD youth in K–12 and community-based PA spaces;
  2. describe relevant policies such as state K–12 athletic regulations, a proposed Title IX amendment put forth by the U.S. Department of Education, and other advocacy efforts; and
  3. describe practice recommendations, as well as areas for future advocacy, intervention, and research as they relate to the NASP Practice Model and ethical codes.

Description

This presentation synthesizes the peer-reviewed literature on the experiences of transgender and gender diverse youth within school and community athletic spaces. Suggestions for practice and future research will be discussed.
