This session will help participants…
- describe the experiences of TGD youth in K–12 and community-based PA spaces;
- describe relevant policies such as state K–12 athletic regulations, a proposed Title IX amendment put forth by the U.S. Department of Education, and other advocacy efforts; and
- describe practice recommendations, as well as areas for future advocacy, intervention, and research as they relate to the NASP Practice Model and ethical codes.
Description
This presentation synthesizes the peer-reviewed literature on the experiences of transgender and gender diverse youth within school and community athletic spaces. Suggestions for practice and future research will be discussed.
