This session will help participants…

  1. analyze the benefits and drawbacks of single and multiple gated screening systems;
  2. discuss the best practices in the field of school psychology in the use of dyslexia screeners;
  3. gain insight into various properties of assessment results, including sensitivity and specificity of screening assessments; and
  4. understand the unique variance explained by the addition of a second screener.

Description

Numerous screeners are administered in schools to help identify students who may be experiencing academic difficulties. This study investigates dyslexia screeners’ role in the identification of at-risk readers.
