This session will help participants…

  1. describe a tiered approach to mental health supports school providers can implement prior to, in the immediate aftermath of, and in the months following a disaster;
  2. understand the impact of trauma and disasters on child development, behaviors, relationships, and school success;
  3. recognize the need to prepare the school workforce in equitable and comprehensive mental health responses for youth following disasters; and
  4. implement key skills to support youth mental health after disasters.

Description

Following disasters, school providers are essential in supporting students’ mental health. Learn optimal intervention supports that can be implemented prior to, in the immediate aftermath of, and months following a disaster.
