Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand a unique conceptualization of emotion dysregulation and related symptoms in LGBTQIA+ adolescents articulated by biosocial and minority stress theories;
  2. learn adaptations to DBT STEPS-A to provide LGBTQIA+ affirming psychoeducation and skills training to queer and trans students; and
  3. apply recommendations regarding the application of LGBTQIA+ affirming principles to other evidence-based interventions to promote the mental health of LGBTQIA+ youth in schools.
