This session will help participants…

  1. review the existing scientific literature on sleep disturbances and disorders in school-age autistic children;
  2. explore how sleep disturbances and disorders can impact an autistic child’s ability to learn and grow in the school environment;
  3. learn strategies on how best to support positive sleep habits in autistic youth which can be an important component of psychoeducation for parents and teachers.

Description

School psychologists can improve student outcomes by understanding the association between sleep disturbances and the impact on adaptive and academic performance in students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
