This session will help participants…

  1. understand the importance of fostering a positive school climate for newcomer immigrant adolescents (NIA);
  2. understand the importance of considering NIA perceptions of school climate when implementing supports and interventions to improve school climate; and
  3. understand which school services and supports NIA view as critical to promoting their adjustment to U.S. schools and overall outcomes.

Description

Newcomer immigrant adolescents (NIA) are a growing group of youth in U.S. schools. Participants will learn about NIA recommendations for improving school climate and their adjustment to U.S. schools.
