Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. discuss a training curriculum for graduate trainees to conduct culturally sound evaluations for autism in Jamaica;
  2. review culturally relevant considerations for evaluating and diagnosing autism in Jamaica;
  3. examine the obstacles encountered throughout the program; and
  4. discuss future directions to promote autism identification practices in the Caribbean.

Description

A program design that addresses the autism identification gap in Jamaica will be reviewed. School psychologists and trainees will benefit from lessons learned, including culture-based diagnostic and assessment considerations.
