Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. identify challenges inherent in making dichotomous decisions using continuous variables;
  2. determine how to handle cases with test scores near diagnostic thresholds; and
  3. gain confidence when making SLD identification decisions.

Description

This session reports findings from a simulation study using a simplified PSW model showing how diagnostic errors likely occur near diagnostic thresholds and how considering measurement error improves SLD decision-making.
