Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. identify risk and resilience factors faced by Latiné students in their pursuit of educational opportunities at all developmental levels;
  2. introduce Garcia Coll et al.'s (1996) Integrative Model of Minority Youth Development, highlighting contextual and cultural nuances; and
  3. share practical strategies to foster and support higher educational attainment among Latiné youth.

Description

Latiné students encounter many educational barriers. Despite this, these youth maintain high aspirations for postsecondary attainment. Learn how school psychologists are critical stakeholders in helping these students achieve their dreams.
