This session will help participants…

  1. understand the importance of the need to belong and the consequences of not satisfying this fundamental need;
  2. learn about the implications of individual differences in the strength of belonging needs; and
  3. identify different underlying motivations for social withdrawal and the unique outcomes associated with each motivation.

Description

This study explores the impact of unsociable withdrawal on interpersonal relations, social stress, and anxiety, and investigates how belongingness needs moderate these effects in fourth and fifth grade students.
