This session will help participants…

  1. understand the evidence base behind behavior-specific praise as a classroom behavior management technique;
  2. learn whether there are differential effects of teacher-delivered, behavior-specific praise on the class-wide behavior of preschool children; and
  3. learn whether preschool teachers find behavior-specific praise acceptable.

Description

There is a need for guidelines for factors that enhance the effectiveness of behavior management techniques. This presentation will discuss a study examining the differential effects of varied praise rates.
