Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. appreciate the rationale and key principles of a consumer-responsive approach to writing reports and presenting assessment reports that emphasizes outcomes for children and families;
  2. apply strategies and techniques for providing written and oral assessment reports that are relevant, concise, and accessible to consumers; and
  3. understand how the psychoeducational assessment role of school psychologists can be carried out with a social justice perspective.

The desired outcomes of a psychoeducational assessment are most likely to be realized when findings are presented in a way that is helpful to consumers (e.g., parents, teachers, students, service providers, and administrators) who are in a position to put the findings to good use. This workshop will provide strategies, examples, and guided practice in how to deliver assessment findings meaningfully and effectively. School psychologists promote social justice by conducting consumer-responsive assessments that enable positive outcomes for children and families.
