This session will help participants…

  1. interpret and effectively communicate outcomes to families and professionals from other disciplines,
  2. develop knowledge and skills surrounding best practices in school-based autism assessment and identification, and
  3. learn culturally and linguistically responsive school-based autism assessment.

Description

Considering the increase in prevalence of autism, many school psychologists are conducting autism evaluations more often. A strong knowledge base in autism and autism-specific assessment is necessary for school psychologists to conduct accurate evaluations. The purpose of this workshop is to prepare school psychologists to conduct school-based autism evaluations that (a) are grounded in foundational best-practice guidelines (b) are culturally and linguistically responsive, (c) include interprofessional and interagency collaborations, (d) integrate telehealth, and (e) result in effective reports.
