Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn the active ingredients in successful treatment of anxiety in youth,
  2. be able to describe and implement several strategies for treating anxiety, and
  3. be aware of the gender, age, and ethnicity factors that may influence implementation, and the practice of “flexibility within fidelity.”

Description

This advanced workshop will assume some prior knowledge of the components of successful intervention for anxious youth (e.g., self-talk, problem solving, exposure tasks). The workshop will cover these and other intervention strategies with descriptions and clinical case examples, as well as role-play opportunities (with feedback) for attendees. Case examples, illustrations of intervention strategies, and role-play activities will constitute the bulk of the workshop.
