Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand screening for reading in a postpandemic educational context,
  2. establish usable standards for screening and growth in reading,
  3. use data to identify a Tier 2 reading intervention with a high likelihood for success, and
  4. use technology to deliver reading interventions.

Description

How do you assess and remediate reading difficulties after an extensive school closure? This interactive session will focus on assessments, norms, and interventions when the previous norms, processes, and procedures are no longer relevant. Participants will see (a) the effect that school closures and virtual instruction had on student learning and subsequent assessment norms, and (b) how to conduct assessments and interventions when students’ skills are likely lower than ever before.
