Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand the prevalence of trauma and stress for school aged children, as well as the various sources from which trauma can occur.
  2. learn key brain regions that are impacted when students experience stress and trauma, and the subsequent effect on academic and social skills’ development.
  3. develop a blueprint to enact five essential steps toward the development of a “trauma informed” school.

Description

This workshop will explore the impact of stress and trauma on children's learning and behavior. Participants will learn five steps toward developing “trauma-informed” schools to foster emotional growth in students.
