Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand how to reframe perceptions of immigrant and refugee populations in school settings,
  2. learn systemic approaches to wellness and resiliency (including the incorporation of trauma-informed strategies) to support immigrant and refugee populations, and
  3. learn strategies for shifting to a social justice perspective in the services they provide within their own school settings.

Using both lecture and case studies, the presenters highlight how a social justice lens can be used to examine the ecology of a school system as related to refugee and immigrant populations. This session is sponsored by the Convention Committee.
