This session is from the NASP 2021 Annual Convention

  • PMD: 1,4
  • Skill Level: Introduction
  • Session 7: Psychological Services for Specific Groups of Students

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. gain a better understanding of the current state of the empirical literature on social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes in alternative school students.
  2. gain a better understanding of the types and tiers of interventions being implemented in alternative settings across all levels of a multitiered system.
  3. learn how social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes are commonly measured in alternative settings.
  4. understand the need to use data-based decision making in monitoring social, emotional, and behavioral outcome data in alternative education settings.

Despite the potential for alternative education settings to address the intensive social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) needs of their students, there is limited data on SEB outcomes for alternative education students. This poster presents the results of a systematic review that examined the recent empirical literature on SEB outcomes and interventions in alternative education settings. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of the current state of research in alternative education.
