This session is from the NASP 2021 Annual Convention

  • PMD: 5,8
  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • Session 3: Promoting Diversity and Multicultural Competence in School Psychology

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. summarize the importance of integrating social justice advocacy into school psychology practice.
  2. identify potential barriers that may impede social justice reform efforts in schools.
  3. determine strategies that may be used to apply social justice advocacy within the scope of school psychology practice.

Description

In recognition of the competing demands and overburdened reality many school psychologists face, social justice advocacy may not be a top priority. Using a micropolitical framework, presenters will review the research and describe feasible strategies to incorporate social justice advocacy into your daily practice.
