This session is from the NASP 2021 Annual Convention

  • PMD: 1,9
  • Skill Level: Introduction
  • Session 4: Assessment and Intervention in an RTI Framework

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. describe a rationale for focusing on mathematics in assessment and instruction in early education.
  2. identify key skills in each domain of mathematical development.
  3. describe the proposed relation among skills as depicted in learning progressions.

The Early Math Individual Growth and Development Indicator (EM-IGDI) for preschoolers is under development. This poster presents the first phase of research to create learning progressions of key mathematical skills in the EM-IGDI domains of numeracy, geometry and spatial skills, measurement, and pre-algebraic thinking. Information presented here will help school psychologists to understand key mathematical development, concepts, and skills.
