This session is from the NASP 2021 Annual Convention
- PMD: 1,3
- Skill Level: Intermediate
- Session 4: Assessment and Intervention in an RTI Framework
Learner Objectives
This session will help participants…
- critically assess baseline measurement.
- identify the impacts of baseline practices in reading on initial skill placement.
- familiar themselves with baseline measurement for reading intervention.
Description
As screening companies move toward one oral reading fluency (ORF) measurement per benchmark, school psychologists should ask if this is best practice. How much does this affect the reliability of the ORF score? This researchers assessed five baseline measurement practices and compared initial assessment to post assessment at about one week later. Practitioners will take away a better understanding of baseline for ORF and be able to communicate this information to school staff.
