Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. develop an understanding of what executive function is.
  2. learn about feasible, evidence-based strategies under all three tiers aimed to foster executive function skills.
  3. develop an effective method to support and promote these skills in school.

Description

Targeting executive function skills within schools is important, as executive function skills play an imperative role in student’s academic, social–emotional, and behavioral functioning. Using the multitiered system of supports (MTSS) framework, evidence-based supports and interventions will be proposed under the three tiers to provide school psychologists with guidance in developing an effective method to support and promote the development of executive function skills among school-aged children with and without disabilities.
