Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. be knowledgeable of best practices in the use of videoconference platforms,
  2. identify various smartphone apps that can assist school psychologists in providing therapeutic services,
  3. be aware of how diversity and multicultural issues should be considered when using telehealth, and
  4. be able to identify common difficulties that need to be addressed when conducting assessments through telehealth.


During the pandemic, everyone in the field became a virtual school psychologist. This session will focus on answering many of the common questions that arose when practitioners made the rapid transition to telehealth. Participants will first learn how to set up teleconferencing platforms, use apps to complement mental health services, and address privacy and access issues. The session will move on to more advanced content, including conducting assessments, providing virtual counseling, and supervising others within a remote context.
