Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand the principles of evidence-based assessment and their applicability for school psychology practice; and
  2. become (re)acquainted with a body of empirical literature that has raised concerns about the utility of cognitive profile analysis methods for well over 30 years;
  3. better evaluate which assessment methods are most useful for conducting equitable evaluations for all children in schools.

Description

Despite a questionable research history, profile analysis methods remain pervasive in school psychology training and practice. This session will review new and continued concerns associated with use of these techniques.
