Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. use respectful language with transgender youth and adults
  2. explain the relationship between school events and healthy outcomes
  3. advocate for effective school practices that prevent early school leaving

Description

Changes in cultural acceptance of gender nonconformity have led many students to be “out” about their gender identity, but many encounter harassment from peers and adults and are at risk for leaving school without graduating, leading to a cascade of bad outcomes in employment and health. We provide tools for advocacy, counseling, and consultation that can help students complete their education successfully and make effective school-to-career transitions.

Convention session locations are only viewable for convention attendees and will be available/visible Monday, February 17, 2020.
