Abstract

The dual-factor model of mental health proposes that the separate but correlated constructs of subjective well-being and psychopathology may be integrated to best understand mental health. This model stands in contrast to traditional models of mental health, which emphasize the presence of psychopathology. The current study sought to (a) validate the dual-factor model by creating mental health groups using latent profile analysis and (b) examine the demographic make-up and prevalence of youth in each mental health group across middle school students (N = 449).
