The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) created the National School Psychology Certification System (NSPCS) for the purpose of credentialing school psychologists who meet a nationally recognized standard. The NSPCS is open to members of NASP as well as to nonmembers. The administration of the NSPCS is vested under the authority of the National School Psychology Certification Board (NSPCB).
In order to apply for the NCSP as a graduate of a NASP-Approved Program, graduates of NASP-Approved programs must ensure that they meet all of the NCSP eligibility requirements. NASP must receive the application within 10 years of the graduation date.

- NASP Internship Verification Form (completed and signed by both your university-based supervisor and field-based supervisor)
- Unofficial copy of PRAXIS score report
- Unofficial or official copy of your transcript.
- Payment of certification application fee (online)
- Official School Psychologist Praxis Examination score report; the test date must be within the last 10 years

- Official graduate transcript. Official graduate transcripts should be sent directly to NASP from the academic institution. Transcripts must be emailed to cert@naspweb.org. Recent graduates: Ensure your official transcript sent to NASP includes your degree and/or certification conferral and date for any recent degrees or certificates completed.
If any of the below apply to your application, upload a letter along with the completed NASP Verification of Completion Form.
The letter must be on university letterhead and signed by your program director:
- If you graduated no more than 18 months prior to your institution gaining NASP accreditation, include a letter stating that the program you completed was substantially similar to the one currently offered. If there were any differences, the letter must also state how you made up these differences.
- If you transferred school psychology coursework into your degree-granting institution, the transfer hours do not appear on your degree-granting institution’s official transcript, and you completed less than 60 semester/90 quarter hours of school psychology coursework at your degree-granting institution, obtain a letter listing which coursework and credit hours your degree-granting institution accepted from other institutions as school psychology coursework.
- If you are in a doctoral program that is still in progress, completed the equivalent of a NASP-approved specialist-level program offered at the same institution, and opted out of the specialist degree conferral, include a letter stating you completed the equivalent of the specialist program that was NASP-approved at the time of its completion.
Note. Official graduate transcripts and ETS Score reports must be provided to NASP from the issuing institution in addition to entering the information in the online application.
