Description of Respecialization Process
Students who wish to pursue school psychology certification and who have other graduate degree or previous graduate credits can come in with "advanced standing" (30 credits) or transfer up to 9 credits, and can then waive out of the appropriate classes with their advisor's permission.

Description of Respecialization Process
Students who come in to the Doctoral program already certified as school psychologists must complete at least 60 credits in the program. This includes the 12 credits of internship. Applicants who have prior related graduate degrees that are not in school psychology can either transfer in up to 9 credits, or be admitted with "advanced standing."

The 2010 NASP Standards for Graduate Preparation of School Psychologists defines a school setting as “…one in which the primary goal is the education of students of diverse backgrounds, characteristics, abilities, disabilities, and needs. Generally, a school setting includes students who are enrolled in Grades pre-K–12 and has both general education and special education services. The school setting has available an internal or external pupil services unit that includes at least one state-credentialed school psychologist and provides a full range of school psychology services.”
