* For those interested in starting summer, the UTSA's Department of Educational Psychology is proud to announce three new and exciting, grant opportunities that may be of interest: Project BEAMS, Project DEEP, and Project EARLY! Additional information regarding these opportunities is provided below. Project BEAMS Funding Package = up to $34,000 Project BEAMS will allow UTSA school psychology students to participate in specialized professional development in school based mental health from experts in the field. Students will be able to immediately support the San Antonio community by providing mental health services in the Southwest Independent School District. o For additional information, please contact Dr. Victor Villarreal at Victor.Villarreal@utsa.edu Project DEEP Funding Package = $10,000 Project DEEP aims to co-educate aspiring teachers of the deaf, and future school psychologists via interdisciplinary training preparation. The 2010 NASP Standards for Graduate Preparation of School Psychologists defines a school setting as “…one in which the primary goal is the education of students of diverse backgrounds, characteristics, abilities, disabilities, and needs. Generally, a school setting includes students who are enrolled in Grades pre-K–12 and has both general education and special education services. The school setting has available an internal or external pupil services unit that includes at least one state-credentialed school psychologist and provides a full range of school psychology services.”
