Much like the “K” in knight, the comprehensive history of the English language has been silenced in our assessment processes, and with it, the connections among the languages of the people we evaluate and for whom we advocate.

Learner Objectives:

This session will help participants:

  1. Reconceptualize and recontextualize comprehensive psychoeducational assessment (and teaching) within a relational model of language acquisition and development.
  2. Describe how their own native (and additionally acquired) languages serve as tools for bridging communication.
  3. Analyze and challenge current notions of language development and acquisition with a shift from scientific to relational frames for assessment and supports.
