  1. identify the various components that contribute to skilled reading.
  2. assess their current assessment and intervention practices consistent with NASP Practice Model Domain 1: Data-Based Decision Making and Accountability and Domain 5: School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning.
  3. advocate for the use of evidence-based reading practices within their district consistent with NASP Practice Model Domain 3: Interventions and Instructional Support to Develop Academic Skills and Domain 5: School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning.

Description

Hundreds of research studies support the science of reading, but how does this information apply to school psychologists? The presenters will provide an overview of the science of reading and application to school psychologists, first from an assessment lens and next from an intervention approach. Participants will leave with knowledge of assessment tools and intervention strategies aligned with the science of reading, in addition to free resources to support implementation.
