Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand the impact of a GSA on LGBTQ middle school students' depressive symptoms;
  2. understand issues of intersectionality related to the implementation of middle school GSAs (e.g., do GSAs impact BIPOC LGBTQ students in the same way as they do their White peers?);
  3. learn how to adapt the content of GSA meetings to be developmentally appropriate for middle school students; and
  4. learn strategies for obtaining parental permission/buy-in for student participation in GSAs.

Description

This poster presentation will present the results of a study on the impact of gender-sexuality alliances (GSAs) on LGBTQ+ middle school students’ depressive symptoms.
