Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn evidence-based strategies to support students and school staff in K–12 settings in advance of and following school shootings;
  2. identify effective prevention strategies for school shootings for students from diverse backgrounds and developmental levels; and
  3. understand results from a research study on how anxiety and perceptions of safety affect an individual’s position on campus carry.

Description

This presentation will provide evidence-based strategies and practical examples to promote school safety in K–12 settings, specifically regarding school shootings, with a focus on anxiety and perceptions of safety.
