Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. leave with a better understanding of international school psychology practices and the gaps in research concerning school-specific supports in other countries;
  2. learn how gaining a better understanding of home-country systems can lead to more equitable practices with immigrant students and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds through consultation and collaboration in the field; and
  3. gain concrete strategies to promote safe and supportive schools by implementing culturally responsive practices and engaging in consultation and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure equity and advocacy for students.

Description

Examining school psychology practices in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, China, and Vietnam to facilitate global consultation and collaboration that supports diverse immigrant student populations in the United States.
