Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. analyze the benefits and concerns of school-based screeners that include children’s contextual factors;
  2. explain the importance of considering consequences and engaging diverse perspectives when designing and using measures; and
  3. apply this knowledge to the screeners used in their schools and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of current screening processes.

Description

The process to develop an equitable social, emotional, and behavioral screener that is comprehensive and contextual will be described. A transformativist approach and social consequences will be discussed.
