PO681: Is Reading Achievement Related to Question Responding Behavior?

  • PMD: 3,5
  • Cost: Included in Registration
  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • Poster Session 4: Recent Developments in Assessment and Research

Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand how students might differ in their test taking strategies, processing of text, and their question reading and responding behaviors;
  2. understand when and why students engage in compensatory reading strategies; and
  3. consider why some students adapt their reading behavior on more difficult passages and questions while others do not.

Description

We know that students of different achievement levels process text differently, but what do they do differently when reading and answering questions? Eye-tracking technology was used to answer these questions.
