This session will help participants…

  1. learn about recent prevalence data and trends, including gender and sex differences, complex presentations of behaviors, and co-occurring diagnoses and overlapping symptoms; practice-based implications of these research advances will be prioritized.
  2. describe current trends in research and practice centered on identifying autism using a comprehensive approach that considers comorbidities and existing risk factors.
  3. provide recommendations for intervention strategies for autistic children, with particular focus on collaborative treatment planning and evidence-based interventions in schools.
