Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. understand the science of reading and relevant models of cognitive neuroscience;
  2. name the components of skilled reading according to the science of reading;
  3. evaluate their assessment and intervention methods to ensure that they align with science of reading practices;
  4. examine their assessment tools to ensure that they are sufficiently and accurately measuring reading strengths and weaknesses of students; and
  5. critique their district’s reading programs to examine what aligns with the evidence base on science of reading.

Description

The presenters will provide an overview of the science of reading (SoR) and application to school psychologists, examining assessment, instruction, and intervention practices. Participants will receive free SoR-aligned resources.
