Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. learn the similarities and differences in early childhood play development between typically developing children and those developing with delays through presentation of empirical results;
  2. apply descriptive categories of children’s play through presentation of videotaped case examples; and
  3. become familiar with the play assessment system and how school psychologists can link results to data-based intervention decisions for young children through analysis of practice examples.

Description

We demonstrate an assessment system for evaluating a child's play abilities derived from our empirical investigations of early childhood play development in typically developing children and those developing with delays.
