This session will help participants…

  1. understand whether certain racial/ethnic groups appear more likely to skip questions related to suicide on the YRBS;
  2. identify potential concerns raised by missing data patterns across racial/ethnic groups and brainstorm potential paths forward; and
  3. understand current differences in rates of self-reported suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviors among U.S. high school students by racial/ethnic group.

Description

This study examines whether youth of color skip survey items related to suicide more frequently than their White peers using the nationally representative 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey data.
