Learner Objectives

This session will help participants…

  1. identify the implications of federal law for mental health screening, including IDEIA, HIPAA, FERPA, and PPRA.
  2. identify ethical responsibilities related to mental health screening.
  3. develop action plans to advocate for school mental health screening, addressing common barriers.

Description

Participants will learn about screening barriers including capacity for adequate and timely follow up, consent procedures, financial barriers, and privacy concerns. Advocacy recommendations and peer sharing will be facilitated.
